Italian Serie A giants Napoli have moved ahead of the Premier League duo of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Mexican international midfielder Hector Herrera.
Hector Herrera currently plays his club football for Portuguese Super League giants FC Porto and he has been touted as a possible signing for both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the publication from Sport Italia via talksport, Inter Milan are in discussions to sign Hector Herrera.
The San Siro outfit want to sign him either in a cut-price deal during the upcoming winter transfer window or in a free transfer move at the end of the season.
Hector Herrera has less than a year left on his contract with FC Porto meaning that he can start talking to clubs outside Portugal about a potential free transfer move as from the New Year.
He joined the club from Mexican club Pachuca in 2013 after FC Porto paid €8m to secure his transfer.
Since then, the Mexican player has been a consistent performer for the Champions League campaigners.
Hector Herrera is also a key player for the Mexican national team.
He has scored five goals in 70 appearances for his country and has represented Mexico in two FIFA World Cup tournaments.
