Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has reportedly set his sights on a move back to Italy when the transfer window comes around in the New Year.
According to the report from football365, the Italian international fullback has been linked with a transfer to several Italian clubs ahead of the reopening of the transfer market.
Italian Serie A clubs such as Inter Milan and AS Roma have been touted as possible destinations for him.
The aforementioned teams are ready to rescue him from his Manchester United nightmare at Old Trafford.
Matteo Darmian has struggled to perform well for the Red Devils on a consistent basis since he joined the club in 2015.
The 28-year-old signed for Manchester United from Italian Serie A side Torino in 2015 for an undisclosed fee said to be around £13m.
Matteo Darmian penned a four-year contract with Manchester United until 2019 with the option of an additional year.
The Italian right-back/left-back enjoyed regular football action under former boss Louis Van Gaal (LVG) but he has since his playing time reduce since Jose Mourinho became the Red Devils manager in the summer of 2016.
In total, Darmian has scored once in 55 appearances for the three-time European champions in the Premier League.
