Iker Muniain

Athletic Bilbao attacking midfielder Iker Muniain has sent a damning message to his England suitors, Liverpool with a major step of committing his future to the Spanish side.

The move by the player is the loudest way of telling the Merseyside suitors of his rejection of their bid and interest for him knowing that his contract with his club expires at the end of next season.

The Reds had expected that the 25-year old could be secured at a very cheap price in the winter with the insinuation that his club will be in a rush to have him sold but that will no longer be as the player wants to remain.

Muniain is a goal scoring attacker who already has four goals to his name in nine appearances for his side, making him an important player who is highly needed.

A report by Spanish newspaper Marca stated that the decision to remain at the club is that of the midfielder and not the club but hinted that the player’s request to remain at San Mames would be well granted by the club.

However, Liverpool will face competition from Napoli who are reported to be monitoring the player from a distance as well.

Another former Chelsea player reveals the incredible reason why he left Stamford Bridge

Former Chelsea player and legend Florent Malouda has revealed why he was forced to leave the Stamford Bridge against his wish at the time he did so.

The Chelsea legend spent six seasons with the West London outfit where he won a Premier League title and three FA Cups, to add to the UEFA Champions League he won with the Blues team.

All of the feats ended in the other way round as Florent Malouda was unhappy at the club in his last season because he was asked to take an £80,000 pay cut during the summer which he refused.

The result for him was to be left out of the Blues squad from all of the competitions they competed in before he left to Turkey to join Trabzonspor the next summer.

Now that it is history, Florent Malouda, who spoke on the Legend of Legends, said his last days at the West London outfit was not funny because there was a serious disagreement with the club.

He, therefore, exposed that there were threats and conspiracy against him, just like it was done with Nikolas Anelka and Alex after they won the Champions League.

Florent Malouda concluded by stating that he was a victim because he was not scared of how he would have been treated for speaking out his mind.

naby keita

It was earlier thought that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will keep fate with his summer signing Naby Keita but that might not happen again as he is reported to have had a change of mind about him.

Naby Keita is less than a year at the Anfield but he is yet to give his best to the team and has been out of the first 11 owing to his inability to beat the competition in the team despite the faith in him by the German boss.

He had a superb last season at the German Bundesliga with his former side but he has failed to replicate that in the English Premier League to help the Reds team with the push for the title because of his very slow start.

However, it is now being reported that the former Borussia Dortmund manager will have to part ways with the star midfielder as he can no longer keep him at the club because of his financial burden and his little contribution to the team.

This might as well affect the decision of the manager not to sign any major player in the coming summer transfer window as there would be a need to secure a replacement for Naby Keita if he leaves.

Jose Mourinho

Former Chelsea star and Nigerian international John Obi Mikel has lamented how his career fell short of expectation under the former boss Jose Mourinho in the early days of his career at the Stamford Bridge.

John Obi Mikel recalled how he first got sent off in his first game for the Blues because of the speed of the game which took him a while to understand.

It would be recalled that the Super Eagles captain joined the West London outfit in 2006 from Lyn Oslo at the age of 19 after Man United failed to secure his signature because of his impressive performance during the 2005 U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands where he was the tournament’s second best player.

At that time, John Obi Mikel had gotten offers from a number of top European clubs before he opted for the West London outfit and he almost regretted the decision during his early days because of the demands of the manager and the pace of the league.

He recalled how he was naughty and most at times got late to training as well as wear the wrong dress code but he was later put through by the Portuguese manager who will not take any excuse for wrongdoings.

sadio mane

There are now many reasons why Liverpool and their supporters must be worried about the future of Senegal international Sadio Mane at the club after he has been linked with a move away from the club.

It was earlier reported that Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has told the club to ensure the signature of Sadio Mane immediately he signed for the club for the second spell.

The speculations were earlier dismissed and not taken seriously by the Merseyside supporters but now, the news of the interest for Sadio Mane is now seen on the front page of the newspapers in Spain which gives it a little press.

Monday’s edition of Spanish sport daily Marca are also reporting that the Senegal international is needed at the Spanish capital.

However, Sadio Mane is in his best form so far this season and has been helpful to the Reds team, having scored 11 goals in his last 11 games to ensure they press on with the contest for the English Premier League title.

The Merseyside outfit are yet to make any claim on the star player but there are suggestions that he would not be allowed to leave the club for no amount of money.

Memphis Depay

Former Manchester United attacker Memphis Depay didn’t deserve to end up on the losing side after his Netherlands side lost 3-2 at home to past world champions Germany in the second game of their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

The Netherlands had started their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with the 4-0 thrashing of Belarus at home on Thursday night.

Germany were the better side in the first half of the qualifying encounter with the Dutch team despite the best efforts of Depay.

The Lyon star was rewarded for his toils in the second half of the game as he almost single-handedly dragged his side back to 2-2 after Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry had given Germany a 2-0 lead at the halftime interval.

Memphis Depay provided the first goal for Matthijs De Ligt to start the fightback for the hosts in the 48th minute.

The former PSV Eindhoven player levelled proceedings for his team fifteen minutes later with a smart finish for his third goal in two qualifying games.

The Netherlands thought they got at least a point from the game until TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Nico Schulz stunned the home fans with a third goal for the Germans on the stroke of full-time.

The devastating strike from Schulz was enough to hand Depay and the Netherlands their first defeat of the qualifiers.

De Ligt

Ajax Amsterdam defender Matthijs De Ligt was on the scoresheet for the Netherlands in their 3-2 home loss to Germany in a qualifying match ahead of Euro 2020.

The game against the Germans was the Netherlands’ second of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Germany took a two-nil lead at the halftime interval after Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry scored for the visitors.

The Netherlands were stunned into action in the second half and it was the aforementioned De Ligt who started the fightback in the 48th minute.

Matthijs De Ligt halved the deficit three minutes into the second half off an assist from Lyon attacker Memphis Depay.

The 19-year-old showed why the best teams on the European football scene including Premier League giants Manchester United are on his trail as he produced a fine finish to drag the Netherlands back into the game.

Apart from Manchester United, the Ajax Amsterdam skipper has also been linked with clubs like Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

Memphis Depay struck the equaliser for the Netherlands in the 63rd minute for his third goal in two qualifying matches only for the Germans to secure the three points at stake in the dying moments of the game after Nico Schulz hit the winner for Germany in added time.

Serge Gnabry

Former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry scored a stunning goal as he helped Germany to a dramatic win over the Netherlands in their Euro 2020 qualifying clash.

Germany beat the Netherlands 3-2 away from home in what was their first game in the qualifiers.

It was a significant win over Germany following the announcement from manager Joachim Low that three experienced players would no longer be a part of the team.

Joachim Low left out the Bayern Munich trio of Mat Hummels, Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng as he revealed that the three Bayern Munich players would no longer be considered for call-up to the national team.

The newlook Germany team took the lead in the 15th minute through Manchester City winger Leroy Sane before Bayern Munich star Gnabry added a second goal on 34 minutes with a stunner after he outsmarted Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Serge Gnabry spent five years with Arsenal between 2011 and 2016 having joined from German club VfB Stuttgart.

The 23-year-old left the Gunners to join German champions Bayern Munich in 2016.

Germany maintained the 2-0 lead at halftime only for the hosts to fightback through Matthijs De Ligt and Memphis Depay but the immediate past world champions had the last laugh after TSG Hoffenheim midfielder Nico Schulz scored the winning goal on the stroke of full-time.

Marko Arnautovic

West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic scored twice but it was enough as his Austrian side suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of Israel in what was the second game of their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Marko Arnautovic has been linked with a move to major Premier League sides like Chelsea and Manchester United and he showed why against Israel but his teammates were unable to match that quality as Austria slumped to a second defeat in two games of the qualifiers.

The former Stoke City and Werder Bremen star came close to moving to China in January only for him to decide to stay with the Hammers.

Austria lost their first game to Poland at home by a lone goal and the latest defeat against Israel won’t sit well with their fans back home.

Eran Zahavi was the tormentor-in-chief for the Austrians after he scored a 21-minute hattrick either side of the halftime interval to overturn the eighth-minute opening goal from Marko Arnautovic.

Moanes Dabbur scored the fourth goal for the hosts in the 66th minute before Arnautovic pulled a goal back nine minutes later.

Israel thereafter held on to that 4-2 win that pushed them to the second spot behind league leaders Poland in Group G.

The Daily Mail revealed that Manchester United are ready to fight other interested clubs for the young England international winger.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has previously been linked with clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

German champions Bayern Munich tried to sign him during the winter transfer window but Chelsea stood firm in the face of several bids from the Bavarian giants.

Chelsea rejected at least five bids from Bayern Munich for Callum Hudson-Odoi in January.

The young English winger submitted a transfer request amidst the interest from Bayern Munich but it was rejected by senior officials at the club.
