North London giants Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a replacement for the erratic Shkrodan Mustafi in their starting XI.
According to the report from trusted transfer news website TuttoMercatoWeb (TMW) via footballtransfertavern, the Gunners are keen on a move for Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
Moroccan international centre back Benatia is frustrated with a lack of playing time at Juventus and he’s keen to secure a move away from the Old Lady.
The 31-year-old signed for the Italian champions in the summer of 2017 as a replacement for Giorgio Chiellini who left the club for rivals AC Milan in the same summer.
Italian international Chiellini returned to the Juventus Stadium this summer after just one year with AC Milan.
His return has led to a lack of playing time for Medhi Benatia at the club.
The former Bayern Munich defender has featured in the Italian Serie A on four occasions only this season.
Mehdi Benatia is almost likely to replace the erratic Mustafi in the Gunners starting XI if a move to the Emirates Stadium becomes a reality.
Apart from the North London outfit, Mehdi Benatia has also been linked with a transfer to rivals Manchester United.
