Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata is interested in a move back to former club Valencia in the New Year.
The 30-year-old is reportedly keen to return to the Mestalla at the end of his current Manchester United deal.
This is according to the publication from France Football via talksport.
The Spanish international midfielder has less than a year left on his contract at Old Trafford.
His contractual situation with the Red Devils has thrown his future at the club in doubt and also prompted talks of a move away from the three-time European champions.
He had previously been linked with a transfer to Premier League rivals Arsenal in what could potentially be a reunion with new Gunners manager Unai Emery.
Mata featured under the guidance of the Spanish tactician while he was the Valencia boss.
Unai Emery and Juan Manuel Mata worked together at Valencia between 2008 and 2011 before the player left to join Chelsea in a multi-million pounds move.
The latest transfer links involve a return to his former hunting ground at the end of this season.
Mata wants to return to Valencia if he’s not offered a new contract at Manchester United.
He spent four hugely successful years at Valencia before his transfer to Chelsea.
