Three-time European champions Manchester United are targeting a cut-price deal for a rival player ahead of the upcoming transfer window in January.

According to a publication from the Daily Express via Bristolpost, Manchester United have concluded plans to make a move for wantaway Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

It was further revealed that the Red Devils will wait until they can get him to sign as a free agent next summer if they can convince Arsenal to do a cut-price deal for him during the next transfer window.

Ramsey is on his way out of Arsenal after the Gunners hierarchy withdrew the contract offer given to him.

The Welsh international star has less than a year left on his present contract at the Emirates Stadium.

He’s in a position where he can start to speak with foreign teams about a potential free transfer next summer.

Aaron Ramsey can begin discussions with potential suitors as from the 1st of January.

Since he joined the Gunners in 2008 in a £5m deal from newly promoted side Cardiff City, he has become an important player for Arsenal.

He was an integral member of the Arsenal team that won three of the last five FA Cup titles.
