Chelsea are looking forward to strengthening their defence line with and will now return back to their long term target and Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
The North London side were turned down again in an attempt to sign the 24-year-old player last season with the Italian champions refusing to let him leave because they had lost Mattia Caldara to AC Milan.
However, the Blues will not have it easy with the interest of Italian outfit AS Roma in the player. They are tipped to stand a better chance as a result of their closeness with the player.
Calciomercato report that Roma are have initiated steps to go ahead of Chelsea for the defender in the January transfer window to test if he would be released by the Italian giants as soon as in the winter market.
But Chelsea are placed in an advantaged position in the interest for Rugani because of the sour relationship to the Juventus and Roma, especially at the management level.
Roma are believed to be hurt by Juventus’ refusal to sell Juan Cuadrado Roma and in return, they decided to block the champions’ move for midfielder Kevin Strootman.
Manager Maurizio Sarri seems to be losing confidence in the Chelsea defence and is making effort to re-enforce.
