Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to make more than one signing when the transfer window reopens in January.
According to the report from Manchester Evening News (MEN), the Portuguese tactician wants to make at least two signings in the upcoming transfer window in the New Year.
This means that he will break a ten-year record.
Manchester United have not made more than one signing during the January transfer window since the 2009 edition.
The Red Devils signed the duo of Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic from Partizan Belgrade FC of Serbian.
The two Serbian players didn’t make much impact and same can be said of Richie De Laet who also arrived from Stoke City during the same transfer window.
Jose Mourinho is in search of quality additions to boost his squad as he tries to close the gap on the early pacesetters in the Premier League.
Mourinho and his Manchester United players started the season poorly with three defeats in their first ten games in the league.
A run of two wins and one draw from the last three matches has seen optimism return amongst the Manchester United faithful.
The Red Devils currently occupy the eighth spot with 17 points from ten games.
Man Utd Star Eyeing Armband After Contract Extension Agreement
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has set his sights on the captain’s armband at the club after agreeing on a contract extension to stay with the Red Devils for a long time.
In his recent interview monitored by the Independent, David De Gea stated that it would be an honour to lead the team.
He also pointed out that he enjoyed the experience of leading the team on some occasions to date.
His captain armband admission is coming on the back of his contract extension agreement with Manchester United.
According to recent reports, David De Gea has agreed on a six-year deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.
His new contract is worth £375,000 on a weekly basis this making him the second highest paid player at Manchester United behind Alexis Sanchez.
Chilean international Alexis Sanchez is the highest earner at Manchester United following his move in January 2018.
David De Gea has one year left on his current deal at Manchester United after the club activated the extra year in his contract.
His new contract agreement will take the Spanish international shot stopper to the summer of 2024.
He was linked with several clubs like Juventus and Real Madrid before his agreement with senior Manchester United officials.
Arsenal To Make Third Bid For Kieran Tierney
Arsenal will reportedly make a third bid for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney in the coming days.
This is according to the publication from Daily Record which revealed that the Gunners are preparing a third bid for the Scottish international left-back.
It was revealed that Arsenal will make another £25m for the player with better payment arrangement.
Arsenal had earlier made a second bid of £25m which included £7m in add-ons.
Celtic swiftly turned down that second bid which had just £18m in upfront payment.
Arsenal will offer more in upfront payment from the £25m to meet the financial demand from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.
The Gunners have identified Kieran Tierney as their major transfer target in their quest to sign a new left-back this summer.
They had earlier made a first bid of just £15m for the player.
Arsenal left-backs Sead Kolasinac and Nacho Mineral were unable to meet up with what was demanded by club manager Unai Emery in that position hence the need to sign a new player for that position.
Kieran Tierney, 22, has been recovering from hernia and hip problems but he’s expected to be fit by next month.
He wants the move to Arsenal but the Scottish player won’t force the transfer.
Why Man Utd Turn Down Chance To Sign Gareth Bale
Premier League club Manchester United have turned down the opportunity to sign embattled Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale this summer.
This is according to the publication from the stables of the London Evening Standard which revealed that Manchester United have passed up the opportunity to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur hitman.
Manchester United are long-term admirers of Bale who’s surplus to requirements at Real Madrid after six seasons at the club.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the player is not in his plan at the weekend.
According to him, Gareth Bale will leave Real Madrid for a new club this summer despite the fact that he still has three years left on his current deal.
Bale became a Real Madrid player in the summer of 2013 when he joined the Los Merengues from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur for a then world-record fee of £85.3m.
He held that record for three years before Paul Pogba moved from Juventus to Manchester United for £89m during the summer transfer window in 2016.
Gareth Bale has scored more than 100 goals for Real Madrid since his move to the club six years ago.
The Welsh international forward won four Champions League titles during that period.
