Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva has showered high praise on Gunners midfielder Lucas Torreira for his influence on the team since he joined the club during the last transfer window in the summer.
Torreira, 22, has been praised for his impact on the Arsenal team since he swapped Italy for England in the summer and the latest praise is coming from a club legend.
Gilberto Silva attained legendary status with the North Londoners as part of the Invincibles.
The retired Brazilian international midfielder was part of the Arsenal team that went through the 2003/04 Premier League season without a single defeat.
He had earlier won the 2002 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Korea and Japan before moving to North London in the same summer.
Gilberto Silva lauded Lucas Torreira for his influence on the current Arsenal team in an interview via the Daily Express and went on to reveal that he has followed the petite player keenly since he featured for Uruguay at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
The former Pescara star was part of the Uruguay squad that reached the quarterfinals at the tournament before succumbing to elimination via a 2-0 defeat at the hands of eventual champions France.
Since his return from the World Cup, Lucas Torreira has starred for the Gunners who are on a 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
