The Red Devils were given a penalty after Everton midfielder Idrissa ‘Gana’ Gueye was adjudged to have brought down French winger Anthony Martial in the penalty box.
France World Cup winner Paul Pogba scored from the rebound after his spot kick was saved by the Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the 27th minute.
Pogba was also instrumental to the Red Devils’ second goal scored by the aforementioned Martial after four second half minutes.

The 22-year-old was on target in the 3-2 comeback victory over struggling Newcastle United before netting a brace during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The former AS Monaco star has scored four goals in the last three games in the Premier League.
Everton pulled one back through a 77th minute penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson after Manchester United defender Chris Smalling brought down Richarlison in the box.
