Liverpool have received a major setback in their pursuit of Napoli star Piotr Zielinski as the player is reportedly set to sign a new deal at the club which might make a move difficult at the moment.

According to the report, the new deal that is offered the player by the Italian side will have his buyout clause shoot up from £60 million to £120 million which would be impossible for the Red to afford.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been a big fan of the Polish international for years and the opportunity for him to lure the player to England has been blown up by the developments from Italy.

Klopp looks to equip his squad as the contest for the Premier League title gets tougher with Manchester City and Chelsea refusing to drop points as well.

Liverpool were active in the summer transfer window with the signings of Alisson Becker, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita. There are indications that there will be more activities for the Reds in the winter transfer window so as to help ensure a title win this season.

The Anfield side are currently unbeaten in the Premier League and they top the table with 26 points in 10 games pending what the outcome of the game between City and Tottenham would be at the Wembley stadium.
