Premier League giants Arsenal have reportedly made a bid in the region of £8m for highly-rated Argentina international left-back Nicolas Tagliafico ahead of the next transfer window in the New Year.

According to various reports in the Italian media, the Gunners have made the 26-year-old one of their top transfer targets ahead of the January transfer window.

Tagliafico had earlier been linked with a move to the Premier League with northeast club Newcastle United but nothing came out of the rumours during the last transfer window in the summer.

According to the specific report from calciomercato via talksport, the Gunners have stepped up their interest in Argentine star by making a bid of around £8m.

Nicolas Tagliafico is a regular for club and country.

He plays his club football in the Dutch Eredisie with former champions Ajax Amsterdam.

Tagliafico was part of the 23-man Argentina squad that flopped at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

Argentina crashed out of the tournament at the first knockout stage after they were beaten 4-2 by eventual champions France.

Nicolas Tagliafico could be the ideal solution to the left-back problems encountered by manager Unai Emery.

The Spanish tactician was forced to play midfielder Granit Xhaka in the left-back position in the absence of first-choice Nacho Montreal and his deputy, Sead Kolasinac.
