Manchester United secured their third home league victory of the new season after beating Everton 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday night.

It was their second successive home win following the 3-2 comeback victory over struggling Newcastle United just before the international break.

Manchester United (4-3-3):

David De Gea 6.5

Largely untroubled until he conceded the 77th minute penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Ashley Young 7

The England international had one of his best games for the Red Devils this season.

Chris Smalling 6

Did everything right until he gave away a second half penalty.

Victor Lindelof 7.5

More assured of the two Manchester United centre backs.

Luke Shaw 7

Was a willing outlet for his team. Combined well with the dangerous Martial on the left side.

Nemanja Matic 6

Uncharacteristically lost possession a few times.

Paul Pogba 7

Had an eventual game with a goal and assist to show for his troubles. Gave away possession for the Everton penalty.

Fred 7

Justified his selection with a very good display on his first start in five games.

Juan Manuel Mata 7

The Spaniard had a good game from his forward position. He also helped out the midfield on several occasions.

Anthony Martial 9

Won a penalty for his team before scoring a good second goal for Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford 5.5

Was largely anonymous.

Substitutes:

Romelu Lukaku 5

Came on for Rashford in the 65th minute.

Ander Herrera 5

Helped his side hang on to the slender lead.

Jesse Lingard 5

Made a late entrance into the game.
