Former Manchester United striker Eric Cantona has thrown his weight behind Ryan Giggs as a possible replacement for embattled Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho.
The former France international spoke about his former club in an interview monitored by the Daily Star.
Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs played together at Manchester United in the 90s under legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.
He further questioned why the three-time European champions have failed to give ex-players the opportunity to manage the club.
Ryan Giggs is presently the Welsh national team manager having been appointed earlier this year.
He has made a fantastic start to his Wales career courtesy the home and away wins recorded in the UEFA Nations League (UNL) against Home Nation rivals, Republic of Ireland.
Ryan Giggs previously occupied a player-coach role at Manchester United during the 2013/14 season while ex-Red Devils manager David Moyes was in charge.
Moyes was dismissed in the same season due to poor performance and that led to Giggs’ promotion as player-manager for the last four games.
He won two, drew one and lost one of those four matches.
The former Manchester United winger has been linked with the club’s managerial position on several occasions.
The latest links are as a replacement for manager Jose Mourinho who has made a poor start to the current campaign.
