Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that the decision to hand the captain band to Virgil van Dijk will only help the player’s progress and not do otherwise.
Van Dijk was handed the opportunity to lead the team following the injury of Jordan Henderson and James Milner having impressed so far this season.
However, there are hints he the Netherlands international will again lead his team when they line up against Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday.
According to the German boss, Virgil remains a young player who has matured in his mentality despite room for improvements. He added that handing the Netherlands international more responsibility will be good for him to further impress.
Meanwhile, the former Borussia Dortmund manager showered praise on the team who to him have done a lot to be where they are in the Premier League table.
The team have also been supported by those on the sideline with James Milner wishing his side the best on this social media handle and urging them to ensure they pick all three points against Burnley.
Liverpool are second in the Premier League table behind Manchester City and above Chelsea. The Reds, however, have level points with league leaders but are being separated by goal difference.
