Premier League giants Arsenal showed why they are one of the in-form teams on the European football scene after the Gunners secured an eleventh successive win in all competitions via a 1-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon.

Danny Welbeck scored the only goal in the 78th minute to give the visitors a third victory from three Europa League games in Group E.

Bernd Leno 7

The German shot-stopper was largely untroubled by the hosts.

Stephan Lichtsteiner 6

Performed better in his favourite right-back position. He was largely underwhelming at left-back against Leicester City on Monday night.

Sokratis Papasthathopoulos 7.5

Marshalled the Arsenal rearguard well on his return to the team. One of the best players on the pitch.

Rob Holding 7

The young English defender was more assured than his last outing against Leicester City on Monday night.

Granit Xhaka 6.5

The Swiss midfielder was not out of place at left-back. He continued from where he left off in the second half of the Leicester City game.

Matteo Guendouzi 7

The young French midfielder was very impressive in his second successive start in the competition.

Mohamed Elneny 6

Neat and tidy in possession before he was replaced by Lucas Torreira in the 58th minute.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 6.5

Contributed more defensively. He was denied by the Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper on two occasions.

Aaron Ramsey 6

He had a largely underwhelming performance.

Danny Welbeck 7.5

Produced a match-winning display. He scored the only goal of the game.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 6.5

The Gabonese striker was more lively in the second half.
