Chelsea face battle from United over midfield maestro

A Daily Mail report claims that Chelsea have registered their interest in signing Alessio Romagnoli in the January transfer market but will be ready to win the competition from Premier League rival, Manchester United

The Blues manager Maurizio Sarri who has a better knowledge of the Italian league and its players is keen on adding the defensive midfielder to his team to help provide a cover for the defence.

Romagnoli, the current captain of AC Milan is interesting suitors from other European clubs with Premier League teams tipped to have a better chance to have the player.

He still has a contract with the AC Milan for a longer period but there are suggestions he will demand to leave the San Siro if a juicy offer is tabled for him.

Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso is known to be a fan of the player and will make all efforts to stop him from leaving the club in the January window

Nevertheless, United have also indicated interest in the player and could unsettle him with a tempting offer away from Italy.

Chelsea are beginning to show sign of tiredness after they almost saw their first defeat in the Premier League this season in the game that ended in a 2-2 draw.
