Premier League side Arsenal will have to fend off a new competition in their pursuit of Danish centre back Joachim Andersen when the transfer window reopens in January.
According to the report from popular Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Serie A giants AS Roma are the latest club to show an interest in the 22-year-old.
Joachim Andersen currently plays for Italian Serie A side Sampdoria and he has attracted the interest of several European giants ahead of the January transfer window.
He was first linked with the Gunners earlier this month and is also said to be a transfer target for both Inter Milan and Juventus.
Joachim Andersen has become a key performer for Sampdoria since he secured a move to the club from Dutch Eredivisie outfit FC Twente in the summer of 2017.
He is yet to feature for the Danish senior national team but has played for the country’s youth team.
Arsenal have struggled defensively this season especially in the opening weeks and widespread reports claim that new manager Unai Emery is in search of quality defensive reinforcements for the team.
Current centre back options at Arsenal include summer signing Sokratis Papasthathopoulos, Shkrodan Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny, Rob Holding and Kostantinos Mavropanos, while Calum Chambers is presently on a season-long loan deal at fellow London team Fulham.
