Super Eagles and Chinese based striker Odion Ighalo has knocked Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in emerging as the highest goal scorer in the African Nations Cup qualifiers.
The Changchun Yatai star has scored a total of six goals from three games, more than any other strikers on the continent.
According to Allnigeriasoccer.com, the likes of Red Star Belgrade and Comoros forward, El Fardou Ben Nabouhane and Anderlet’s Zimbabwe striker Knowledge Musona are all behind with four goals while Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and five others rank in same position with three goals each.
The former Watford striker scored his first hat-trick against Libya at the Godswill Akpabio in a game that ended 4-0 and went ahead to score a brace in the second leg against the same country some days later in the 3-2 encounter.
Ighalo has ensured that the Super Eagles win in all the games he had scored in for the past three years of his career with the national team.
However, the Super Eagles are a step closer to qualifying for the 2019 Nations Cup as they top the group with a point ahead of South Africa while Salah’s Egypt also have a game to win to confirm their place in the continent’s tournament.
