Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is reportedly keen for the five-time Champions to firm up their interest in Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
According to a report from renowned English news portal Daily Express, several Barcelona players, including club captain Messi, are in support of the Nou Camp giants’ reported move for the 25-year-old.
Argentinian forward Messi was officially made the Barcelona skipper in the summer following the exit of former club captain Andres Iniesta who now plays his football at Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe.
Despite the fact that Messi and other senior players are in support of the move for Paul Pogba, club scouts are not convinced that the France World Cup winner can thrive in the ‘tiki-taka’ style at Barcelona.
Paul Pogba is desperate to leave Manchester United when the transfer window reopens after falling out with manager Jose Mourinho badly.
Spanish champions Barcelona will need to fend off other potential suitors like Italian champions Juventus and French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in their pursuit of him.
The feud between Pogba and Mourinho has dominated the Red Devils’ season and also threatened to derail the push for major honours.
Manchester United are far behind their rivals in the race for the league title and have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
