Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is reportedly close to agreeing to a new deal at the club.
According to the report from Sky Sports News via Twitter, the 23-year-old will sign a new deal with the Red Devils.
The former Southampton left back has less than a year left on his current deal with his current contract scheduled to run down at the end of the season though Manchester United can invoke the clause of an additional year in the contract.
The new contract development means that the Red Devils don’t have to take up the option of the additional year with the England international defender set to commit his future to Manchester United.
Luke Shaw is enjoying his best spell at the club since he joined the club from fellow Premier League side Southampton in 2014.
The early stages of his Manchester United career was blighted by a double leg break he suffered in a Champions League clash with Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.
The serious injury ruled him out for over a season.
He fell out with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho until this season when he became the team’s first choice left back.
Luke Shaw has started seven of the Red Devils’ eight league games this season.
