Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had his say on the contract standoff involving Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey and the club.
Wenger spoke about Ramsey and his contractual situation with the Gunners in an interview monitored on popular English news portal Metro adding that the 27-year-old is in a strong position with less than a year left on his Arsenal deal.
The Frenchman further revealed that he tried to sign him to a new contract while he was the Arsenal manager.
Arsene Wenger resigned from his post as Arsenal manager at the end of last season thereby drawing the curtains on his 22-year reign in North London.
During his time at Arsenal, the former AS Monaco and Grampus Eight boss won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup titles in addition to leading the Gunners to the 2006 Champions League final in Paris.
His 10-man Arsenal side lost 2-1 to Barcelona who came from behind through goals from Samuel Eto’o and Juliano Belletti.
Aaron Ramsey is on his way out of the club after Arsenal decided to withdraw their contract offer to the former Cardiff City player.
