Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri has reportedly turned down the chance to replace under-fire Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
According to the report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the former AC Milan manager was offered a three-year deal but turned it down.
It further stated that the contract offer from the Red Devils is worth €9m.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been under a lot of criticisms following his side’s indifferent start to the new campaign.
An earlier report from the Daily Mirror had claimed that the Portuguese tactician would be sacked after the Premier League home clash with Newcastle United.
The Red Devils came from two goals down to record a hard fought 3-2 victory over the Magpies courtesy second half goals from substitute Juan Manuel Mata, Anthony Martial and another substitute, Alexis Sanchez.
The visitors had taken a 2-0 lead at the halftime interval through early goals from Kenedy and Japanese international forward Yoshinori Muto.
The win over the Magpies went a long way to ease the pressure on Mourinho’s job at Manchester United and it also ended his team’s four-game winless run dating back to their Champions League opener, a 3-0 win over Young Boys FC of Switzerland.
