Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji has revealed his desire to play for Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Swiss centre-back talked about his ambition to play for Manchester United in a chat with Bluewin.
He further revealed that Manchester United has always been his favourite club since his childhood.
Manuel Akanji was linked with a move to Manchester United during the January transfer window before securing a transfer to German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
The Signa Iduna Park outfit paid Swiss side FC Basel £23m for his services.
As a Manchester United fan, Manuel Akanji would have been disappointed with the Red Devils’ underwhelming start to the new campaign.
Manchester United started the season with a slim 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford before recording two straight league losses to both Brighton and Hove Albion as well as Tottenham Hotspur.
Away victories over Burnley and Watford in the Premier League preceded a poor run of four games without a win, including the Carabao Cup third round exit at the hands of Championship outfit Derby County.
The run intensified the pressure on manager Jose Mourinho but a recent 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle United has gone a long way to ease the pressure on him.
