Arsenal Boosted As Playmaker Returns To Training
Premier League giants Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost following the news that Mesut Ozil has returned to training.
Ozil, 29, missed the Gunners’ biggest win of the season on Sunday with a back problem and has now recovered after returning to train with his teammates at the club’s London Colney training ground.
He was absent on Sunday as Arsenal thrashed London rivals Fulham 5-1 in their Premier League with the help of four second half goals.
The result ensured that the Gunners have now won their last nine games in all competitions, including the last six Premier League matches.
Alexandre Lacazette’s 29th minute opener was cancelled out by a well taken goal from Fulham attacker Andre Schurrle on the stroke of halftime before Lacazette and the substitute duo of Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (two goals) scored in the second half.
The win propelled Unai Emery’s men into the top four for the first time this season.
With the new development, retired German international Ozil is expected to play a part in the Gunners’ next league game, a home match against Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on October 22.
He was in fine form for Arsenal before his small injury setback having scored three goals in his last five appearances.
