Arsenal produced their biggest performance of the season on Sunday afternoon following the 5-1 demolition of Fulham at the Craven Cottage to accelerate talks of a possible title challenge this season.
The Gunners scored four second-half goals to take the game away from their hosts in the London Derby clash in the Premier League and the dominant performance has sparked talks of an unlikely title challenge alongside major contenders like Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Fulham result made it nine successive victories in all competitions.
The comprehensive win propelled the North Londoners to the top four of the Premier League for the first time this season and to within two points of leaders Manchester City.
Here are three reasons behind the Arsenal revival:
1. Emery Impact
Even the most optimistic of Arsenal fans won’t have predicted the strong influence that Spanish tactician Unai Emery has had on the team within a short period of time. Replacing club legend Arsene Wenger after 22 years was always going to be a difficult task but Unai Emery is making it look like a walk in the park.
2. Star Strikers
The form of the striking duo of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played a crucial role in the Gunners’ revival. Both strikers are scoring goals for Arsenal for fun. Lacazette has scored five goals in his last eight appearances, while Aubameyang has netted six goals in the last seven games.
3. Easy Fixtures
Arsenal started the new Unai Emery-led managerial reign with two straight losses to title contenders Manchester City and Chelsea but a run of relatively easy fixtures has allowed the new manager to get his tactical message across to his players ahead of tougher challenges in November and December.
