Manchester United legend Gary Neville has called on the club to follow the model adopted by fierce top four rivals, Liverpool.

According to the former Manchester United right-back, the Red Devils’ hierarchy should back their manager just like what’s obtainable with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Former England international defender Neville spoke about Manchester United and Mourinho while he was on popular news channel Sky Sports.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been under a lot of pressure after his side’s underwhelming start to the new season.

Media reports had earlier claimed on Friday that the Portuguese tactician would be sacked no matter what happens during Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to Newcastle United.

The Red Devils went on to score three second-half goals to overturn a 2-0 halftime deficit against the Magpies.

The Northeast giants scored two goals within three early first-half minutes courtesy of Brazilian winger Kenedy and Japanese international striker Yoshinori Muto.

Newcastle United wasted several opportunities to extend their lead but a lack of ruthlessness ensured that it didn’t happen.

Manchester United thereafter scored three second-half goals to secure a valuable win and also punish their opponent’s profligacy in front of goal.

The victory ended the Red Devils’ four-game winless run.
