Manchester United playmaker Juan Manuel Mata has praised his team’s fighting spirit after the Red Devils came from two goals down to overcome Newcastle United at home on Saturday night.
Manchester United won their Premier League clash at Old Trafford 3-2 thanks to an injury time winner from substitute Alexis Sanchez.
Mata spoke about his side’s win over Newcastle United in a chat with the club’s TV channel (MUTV) as he further revealed that the club could not afford another defeat.
Newcastle United stunned their hosts very early with two goals in the 7th and 10th minute from Brazilian winger Kenedy and Japanese star Yoshinori Muto respectively.
The Manchester United fightback didn’t take place until the second half and it was led by the Spaniard.
Mata pulled one back for the Red Devils via a 70th-minute freekick before French international striker Anthony Martial equalised for the hosts six minutes later off an assist from France World Cup winner Paul Pogba.
Substitute Alexis Sanchez struck the winning goal for the home side on the stroke of full-time to give his side the three points at stake.
The comeback victory ended a run of four games without a win for underfire Mourinho and his Manchester United players.
