The Champions League clash between Manchester United and Valencia are seen by many as the biggest game of Jose Mourinho’s managerial career at Old Trafford.
The game is coming on the back of his worst week as Manchester United manager after poor league results against Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United was sandwiched between the Carabao Cup third round exit at the hands of English Championship side Derby County.
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Wolves at home in their penultimate league game before they were beaten 8-7 on penalties by Derby after both sides played out a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
The Derby County defeat was followed by the weekend’s 3-1 loss to West Ham United.
The Red Devils’ last win came against Young Boys FC of Switzerland (3-0) in their Champions League opener just before the start of this poor run.
Mourinho would be hoping his players can turn the fortunes of the club around when they host Spanish side Valencia at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the crucial Valencia clash, Jose Mourinho confirmed that the quartet of Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard will miss the game.
With several players out injured, Mourinho is likely to make just three changes to his starting XI from the weekend’s game against West Ham.
The trio of Diogo Dalot, Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford could come in for Ashley Young, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial.
Predicted Manchester XI v Valencia: De Gea; Dalot, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; Matic, Fellaini, Pogba; Mata, Lukaku, Rashford.
