Manchester United officials have reportedly lauded the transfer masterstroke executed by Premier League rivals Arsenal over Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.
According to the Express, United insiders are of the opinion that the Gunners sold the former Barcelona and Udinese star at the right time going by his form at both clubs.
Alexis Sanchez signed for Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and he went on to become a key performer for the North London giants.
He won two FA Cup titles with the club in 2015 and 2017 in addition to scoring 80 goals in 166 appearances over a three-and-a-half year period.
His Arsenal form led to a transfer battle between Manchester United and City rivals, Manchester City.
Manchester United won the duel and the 29-year-old sealed a move to Old Trafford in a swap deal involving Armenian international playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Since his move to link up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, Sanchez has been a shadow of himself leading to Manchester United officials to believe that he has suffered a burnout.
The two-time COPA America winner has scored just three goals in 23 appearances with the last one coming in March.
His Manchester United career hit a new low on Saturday when he was dropped for the 3-1 defeat in the Red Devils’ away game at West Ham United.
