Premier League Sack Race: Mourinho Emerges As Overwhelming Favourite
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is the clear favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job.
The Portuguese tactician is under a lot of pressure from both fans and the media following his team’s poor start to the season.
Things went from bad to worse for the former FC Porto, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss when his team suffered a meek 3-1 defeat at the hands of West Ham United in a Premier League Matchday 7 clash played at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the Hammers’ first league win of the season at home.
Mauricio Pellegrini’s men raced into a two-goal lead at halftime courtesy goals from Brazilian star Felipe Anderson and Victor Lindelof (own goal).
Substitute Marcus Rashford gave Manchester United a lifeline when he pulled a goal back on 71 minutes only for the hosts to regain their two-goal cushion back three minutes later through the impressive Marko Arnautovic.
Apart from the results, Jose Mourinho has not been helped by numerous confrontations with his players especially France World Cup winner Paul Pogba and he’s rightly the favourite to lose his job as a Premier League manager.
The Portuguese is at a clear odds of 11/8 according to the Manchester Evening News and ahead of Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock (6/1) as well as West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini (13/2).
