Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has urged Manchester United to ditch Paul Pogba and sign Chelsea outcast Cesc Fabregas in his place.

The footballer turned pundit spoke about Pogba, Fabregas and Manchester United in his column with the Daily Mail.

According to him, Paul Pogba cannot hold the club to ransom and that his space can be filled with another world-class talent like Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Paul Pogba has been in the news for the majority of the last one week after his public fallout with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

The France World Cup winner and Mourinho have always had a rocky relationship and it went from bad to worse after the player openly criticised his manager’s tactics in the aftermath of the draw with newly promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

The Red Devils played out a disappointing 1-1 draw with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men and Pogba went on to criticise the team’s defensive approach to the game.

The former Juventus star was stripped of his duties as the vice-captain of the team before the Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Championship outfit Derby County.

Sky Sports cameras then caught him and Mourinho in an awkward training ground spat on Wednesday to further fuel the animosity between the two parties.

His place could be taken by Spanish international midfielder Fabregas after the former Barcelona and Arsenal player became surplus to requirement at Chelsea under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

Fabregas has failed to start a single league game for the Blues this season and has therefore been linked with a move away from the club.
