Chelsea have scored 17 goals in all competitions so far this season, but it is shocking to see that only one of these goals was scored by their strikers.
Alvaro Morata and former Arsenal star Olivier Giroud have only managed a goal between them since the beginning of this campaign.
Their worrisome goalscoring ratio has kept the Blues fans talking and calling on Sarri to drop both players out of his matchday squad in subsequent matches.
However, their calls and agitation wouldn’t be granted – at least for now – by Maurizio Sarri who has so much trust in the striker’s individual ability.
While analyzing both players contribution in their 1-1 draw against Liverpool last night, the former Napoli manager was glad about their work rate.
Speaking on Morata’s aggressiveness against the Reds – after coming into the game in the second half, Sarri praised the Spaniard for the determination and commitment he displayed when he was introduced into the game.
Despite showering praises on the former Real Madrid striker, Sarri wants him to improve his overall display as the season progress.
As for Olivier Giroud was started against Jurgen Klopp’s team last night, Sarri revealed the Frenchman’s off-the-pitch importance.
He believes the world cup winner has a positive influence on his teammates in the dressing room.
“You know the characteristics; Giroud is very important for his team-mates and I think Morata in the last 25 minutes was more aggressive than usual.“ Sarri disclosed
However, Sarri hopes the former Arsenal striker return back to blistering form as soon as possible.
About their goal drought, Sarri is confident both players will score nothing less than 10 goals each before the end of the season.
“I am not really worried about it and because we have a winger who is able to score frequently. I think at the end of the season we can have four or five players over 10 goals. So it’s not only Hazard.” Sarri said
