It has been revealed that Manchester United made a stunning £50m bid for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey during the summer but were unable to prise the Welsh international star away from North London.

The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the former Cardiff City player and according to popular news channel BeIN Sports, the Old Trafford outfit failed with a substantial bid for him.

Aaron Ramsey joined the Gunners in 2008 in a £5m deal after they beat Manchester United to his signature.

Since signing for Arsenal, Ramsey has become an important member of the team.

He was influential for Arsenal as he scored the winning goal in two of the last three FA Cup title triumphs.

His present contract expires at the end of the season and that has heightened talks of an exit.

Arsenal and Ramsey’s representatives were in contract talks for several months until the former withdrew their contract offer earlier this week.

Aaron Ramsey was offered the chance to have his £110,000 doubled only for him to hold out for a weekly wage package that will put him in the same bracket with his German teammate Mesut Ozil who currently earns £350,000 on a weekly basis at the Emirates Stadium.

Real Madrid’s fans would love what Hazard said when asked about his contract.
