Jorginho has finally revealed the main reason behind his shocking decision to snub Manchester City for Chelsea’s offer despite reaching a personal agreement with the Citizens.
It was reported across all transfer media that Man City manager Pep Guardiola has already reached an agreement with the impressive midfielder and his move to the Etihad stadium from Napoli was subjected to medicals.
Surprisingly, Maurizio Sarri was able to hijack the player’s switch to City as the former Napoli manager captured the 26-year-old’s signature, much to Guardiola’s disappointment.
Though Guardiola turned his attention to Leicester City’s midfielder Riyad Mahrez, the former Barcelona boss isn’t happy losing Jorginho to Chelsea considering how the Italian has taken the Premier League by storm.
Jorginho told reporters ahead of Chelsea clash with Liverpool tomorrow that Maurizio Sarri’s move to the Stamford Bridge was the reason behind his sudden change of mind.
He said he shared a cordial relationship with Sarri during their time with the Naples, therefore, it’s easy moving to Stamford Bridge instead.
“There are a lot of things behind a negotiation process. I believe Sarri’s arrival played a big part on it.” Jorginho told ESPN Brazil.
He revealed that his decision wasn’t forcefully influenced by the former Napoli manager, but the decision was personal.
“He (Sarri) didn’t call me, because he’s not the type to be phoning players, but of course, through agents,” he said.
Since joining the Blues, Jorginho has become fans favourite at Stamford Bridge due to his brilliant showings for the team.
The Italian has developed a great understanding with N’Golo Kante at the middle of the park, covering up for the Frenchman whenever he dashed forward to join the attack.
