Croatian defender Dejan Lovren made his first Liverpool appearance of the season which would probably be his last against top clubs in the sights of the Reds’ fans after his feeble show of display last night.
Liverpool used the old defenders in Nathaniel Clyne, Matip, Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno who had struggled to keep clean sheets in recent years including Belgian shot-stopper, Mignolet between the sticks.
Liverpool fans will be glad to see why Klopp entrusted his current back-line which affirms his tactical approach, experience, suave nature and level of professionalism.
While Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk were in no doubt the best partners so far, having allowed two goals in 5 Premier League appearances; Matip who impressed against Southampton and Lovren were given a chance to prove their worths but it fell through.
Liverpool fans were furious as they took to Twitter after the show was stolen by Eden Hazard in the 2:1 defeat to Chelsea.
Never play him again

Lovren was a metal in a joint force with Van Dijk last season, and after his show at the World Cup he regarded himself as the “the best defender in the world”. However, Klopp may conceive that Gomez could be above him in his pecking order after his impressive partnership with the Netherlands’ captain.
The German boss will now hope for van Dijk’s quick recovery in the next encounter against Chelsea.
The fans can’t really wait to see Gomez come back against the West London club in their next encounter which would be regarded as revenge.
