Manchester United beat Manchester City to Alexis Sanchez’s signature last season, much to the excitement of their fans.
However, things haven’t gone as expected for the Chilean star as he has played six games without scoring a goal this season.
His display against Wolverhampton Wanderers during the weekend was nothing to write about as he was anonymous throughout the 63 minutes he spent on the pitch.
United fans are growing impatient with the former Barcelona star and they are calling on Mourinho to cash-in on his signature as soon as January transfer window reopens.
Despite Sanchez’s unproductivity since he joined the team, his teammate Paul Pogba is backing the player to return to form and start scoring for the team in no time.
The Frenchman admits that much is expected from the Chilean following his move to Old Trafford but the fans need to be patient with the star.
He believes once Sanchez is fully adapted to Mourinho’s style of play, he would begin to score goals from every angle.
Up next for Mourinho and his men is a visit to Derby County in the EFL Cup competition.
After their uninspiring draw against the new Premier League side, Mourinho’s side would be hoping to redeem themselves with a win against Frank Lampard’s team.
It should be recalled that Lampard was one of Mourinho’s trusted players during their time at Stamford Bridge.
The game will witness the former England’s captain leading his team against his former manager José Mourinho on Wednesday.
