Arsenal hosted and defeated Everton 2-0 in yesterday’s interesting encounter.
Unai Emery’s men were sloppy in the opening half and could have conceded three goals before the break, thanks to Petr Cech who ensured the game remained goalless in the first 45 minutes.
In the second period, the Gunners were back to their best, calling Everton goalie Jordan Pickford into action on several cases.
After lots of pressure from the Gunners strikers, Pickford conceded the first goal of the night as he was well beaten by Alexander Lacazette’s fine goal.
Aubameyang doubled the lead after a swift counter-attacking move from the Gunners.
Ozil and Ramsey were both involved in the move before the latter brilliantly pass the ball to the former Borussia Dortmund star, who made no mistake in curling home a beautiful shot from close range.
Here are some facts we observed during the game:
Petr Cech shows why he remains Emery’s first-choice
After many errors in previous matches played this season, Petr Cech finally got used to Emery’s style of play as he put up a flawless performance last night.
The Czech International made loads of saves to put the Toffees at bay throughout the game.
He deservedly recorded his first clean sheet of the season. With this display, he has definitely silent his critics.
