Former Arsenal star player Santi Cazorla, on Saturday, revealed that the Gunners lacked self-confidence during Arsene Wenger’s reign at the Emirates Stadium and that was the main reason for their inability to lay hold on many Premier League titles.
The Villarreal man, who spent six seasons with the North London club, admitted that the Frenchman didn’t trust in the team to compete with top Premier League clubs for the titles.
However, Petr Cech, who joined the Gunners in 2014, has made another shocking revelation on the main reason the team failed to win Premier League trophies during Wenger’s 22-year spell at the Emirates Stadium.
According to the former Cech goaltender, Wenger wanted his players to play his style of football rather than playing to win.
The Czech international revealed to newsmen, after keeping his first clean sheet of the season, that the Frenchman always tell his players to play his tiki-taka style of football even if they won’t pick maximum three points.
Cech put in a man-of-the-match performance against Everton yesterday as his wonderful saves were all that the Gunners needed to remain in the game before halftime.
Though the Gunners were awful in the start of the game, Cech was a busy keeper as the Merseyside club continue to test him.
Goals from Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were enough to give Emery his fourth consecutive victory of the season.
