Arsenal are looking at the prospect of signing Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega in the next transfer window as they continue their search for Aaron Ramsey’s replacement.
The 30-year-old has been exceptional for the Spanish side since the start of the season and the Gunners are set to make move for his signature.
It is believed that Arsenal’s sporting director Sven Mislintant hasn’t found a breakthrough in his contract talks with Aaron Ramsey, he is, therefore, looking for a capable player to replace the Welshman should he decide to partway with the North London outfits.
The Spanish midfielder worked with Unai Emery for more than three years during the manager’s spell with the La Liga side before heading to Paris St-German last season.
However, according to the Mirror, Emery is considering reuniting with his compatriot in the second half of this season.
The media outlet also revealed that the Gunners are ready to trigger his £18m release clause.
Banega will become a free agent by the end of this season but the Gunners can’t wait till then as they wouldn’t want to risk losing him to other clubs in the summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to begin their Europa League competition later today when they tackle Ukrainian side Vorskla at the Emirates Stadium.
The game will start by 20 : 00 and the Gunners will be hoping to defeat their opponents so as to start the competition on a winning note.
