Chris Smalling

United fans were surprised by the display that was put up by England international Chris Smalling during Watford game at the Vicarage Road last night.

The centre-back, who has faced huge criticism from the Red Devils faithful, was awesome throughout the encounter and he crowned his awe-inspiring display with a well-taken goal.

His goal ensured that the Premier League giants picked up the maximum points against Watford who were unbeaten prior to the game.

The club’s supporters couldn’t help but shower praise on the player for his performance as they stormed Twitter to hail the England defender.

Here are some of the best tweets from impressed United fans :

Kenneth Martin(@KennethM1972) was impressed with the team’s overall performance as he tweets ‘This is football, massive three points’. He, however, gave Smalling the Man of the match award.

As for Tejas (@thetejas9) Smalling is the most talented defender in the League so far this season. He believes the player can marshall the backline perfectly for the rest of this season.

Ameeksha @ameeksha, was short and precise in his tweets as he simply wrote ‘Chris Smalling was brilliant’

Should he continue with such performance, Smalling will surely be Mourinho’s most trusted defender for the rest of the campaign.

Ousmane Dembele

Exciting Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele faces a big fight to save his football career at the Nou Camp after he was handed an ultimatum to improve his disciplinary record or face the exit door.

The 21-year-old has failed to justify his hefty transfer fee since he signed for the Spanish La Liga champions during last summer’s transfer window.

Dembele became the most expensive teenager in world football when he joined Barcelona from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for an initial fee of €105m plus €35m in add-ons.

The former Rennes player battled with fitness issues in his first campaign as a Barcelona player but he recovered to contribute his own part to a successful season under manager Ernesto Valverde.

Barcelona won both the Spanish La Liga and Spanish Copa Del Rey titles.

Ousmane Dembele then helped the French team win a second World Cup title at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

France manager Didier Deschamps led the team to victory via a 4-2 win over fellow European side Croatia.

Buoyed by the World Cup title, Dembele started his second Barcelona season well contributing six goals and two assists until recently when he started having disciplinary problems at the club.

Several media reports had claimed that the Gunners were in the driving seat ahead of Chelsea and Napoli in the race to sign Denis Suarez.

See how klopp’s controversial decision help England defeat Croatia on Sunday

Published

on

jurgen klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wasn’t involved in the Three Lions 2-1 victory against Croatia on Sunday, but he surprisingly had a great influence on the outcome of the encounter.
.
Jurgen Klopp’s decision to hire a throw-in coach prior to the start of this season was met with so many critics and mockery from pundits and coaches.

It was obvious that the Reds were far from impressive when it comes to throw-ins throughout last season. They couldn’t create many goalscoring chances from set-pieces, especially from the throw-in, and that was the solid reason behind Klopp’s decision to bring in a coach whose job is basically to teach the players some throw-in techniques.

As much as it looks ridiculous and unprofessional, the effects of his decision was felt on Sunday as Joe Gomez’s long throw pave way for England’s equalizer against the Croats.

Having failed to equalize from an open play, Southgate’s men have no option but to depend on set pieces for inspiration.

The Liverpool defender launched a long throw straight into Croatia’s 18-yard box and after many failed attempts to clear the ball by the Croatia defenders, Jesse Lingard luckily found the back of the net to bring the scoreline level at 1-1.

After their first goal of the night, England were inspired and charged up and they eventually scored a last-minute winner thanks to Harry Kane.

With the victory, the Three Lions are through to the UEFA Nations League’s semi-finals stage that will take place in June 2019.

Since he took over from Sam Allardyce two years ago, Gareth Southgate has been able to transform the Three Lions from a losing team to a young and winning team.

He’s being able to learn some important lessons from Jurgen Klopp and Guardiola’s attacking style of play and has seamlessly applied them to his young team.

He will be very happy that most of his players are plying their trade in clubs that have great and awesome managers.

As for Joe Gomez, he would continue to get better until he becomes a specialist in set-pieces, mostly in throw-ins.

The help of Klopp’s newest coaching staff will continue to be a huge advantage to the players in terms of dead-ball situations.

It won’t be too long that other Premier League managers will join in the habit of hiring a special coach to help fine-tune their players in dead-ball situations.

Joe Gomez is expected to return to Anfield later tonight in preparation for their Saturday clash against Watford. He would be hoping to help his team maintain their unbeaten record.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has identified the 22-year-old as his primary transfer target.

Pablo Fornals has a release clause of £17.9m in his current contract with the Yellow Submarines and the Gunners are ready to pay the said amount to secure his signing.

It was further revealed that midfielder Mohamed Elneny is surplus to requirements at Arsenal and that the Egyptian international star has been transfer-listed.

The 26-year-old is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium with fellow Premier League side Leicester City set to be interested in the former FC Basel midfielder.

The Foxes are long-term admirers of the player who’s likely to be sold for around £15m.
