There were speculations surrounding Leicester City’s defender Harry Maguire throughout the summer transfer window as reporters claimed Mourinho was desperate for his signature.
The player finally put an end to the rumours last week when he reportedly signed a long-term contract with the Foxes.
It is believed that the new deal would see his current wages increased to £80k on a weekly basis which is enough to make a player commit his future to a club.
Despite his new mouthwatering contract with the King Power outfits, bookmakers believe United still stand a chance of luring the player to Old Trafford in January.
According to bookmaker Coral, Mourinho is likely to get the centre-back as long as his employers are ready to bid big for Maguire’s signature.
Coral are predicting that the Portuguese manager has 10/11 probability of signing the former Hull City defender in January.
It was reported last month the Red Devils made a £60m offer for his signature, but the Foxes rejected the deal, claiming the 25-year-old is worth more than that.
While speaking to reporters, John Hill – who worked with Coral bookmarker, suggested that the Portuguese manager will reignite his interest, Harry Maguire, because he is a fan of the no-nonsense defender.
“Jose Mourinho is clearly a big fan of Harry Maguire and although he did not land his man in the summer, we still make him odds-on to complete a move to Manchester United in January or next summer,” said Coral’s John Hill.
