Spurs did City style to change Klopp’s plan ahead of saturday’s clash

Tottenham did Manchester City’s trick of pulling out of the international break when Dele Alli claimed he had injury which was reported to be minor.

According to The Three Lions manager before the match:

“Alli has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but Tuesday’s game will come too quickly,” Southgate said.”

City side already lost Kelvin De Bruyne who was the pivot man in Pep Guardiola’s first XI last season. To avoid more injury worries, Raheem Sterling took excuse and was exempted from the national team.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side already have some issue to deal with, but they will be happy to see a backup player like Lucas Maura who is in great form this season.

Perhaps, this would be regarded as a tactical means of changing Klopp’s plans on how to approach the game on Saturday

While England was planning to face Switzerland on Tuesday, captain Harry Kane was left out but only Eric Dier and Danny Rose was used; the boss will be thankful to see the reduced risk of using all his teams.

It will be fair to say that Alli will surely play against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool will, however, be worried to have both Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren on the injury list but they’ve not been the main pivot of the team.

Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona are keen on an unlikely move for Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford according to reports emanating from the Spanish media.

Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona chiefs are dreaming of a move for the young England international attacker but they are aware that it would be difficult to lure him away from the Red Devils.

Barcelona have already made the signing of a striker their top priority ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The Catalan giants want to sign a long-term replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez and Marcus Rashford definitely fits the bill.

The 21-year-old looked lost at times under the managerial reign of ex-manager Jose Mourinho earlier this season but he has been transformed since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced the Portuguese tactician as the Manchester United manager.

Jose Mourinho paid the price for a disastrous start to the Premier League this season.

Rashford has been able to usurp Romelu Lukaku as the Red Devils’ first-choice striker under Solskjaer.

Reports claim that Manchester United have made a breakthrough in contract talks with him with a possible six-year deal on the horizon.

He has scored six goals in 10 starts and 1 substitute appearance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rashford and Paul Pogba have been in sensational form under Solskjaer who has managed the Red Devils to 11 wins, one draw and one loss in 13 matches in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United must offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent managerial job at the club in the summer.

This is according to club legend Andy Cole.

The ex-Manchester United striker talked about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on BeIN Sports as he urged the Red Devils to offer the Norwegian tactician the manager’s job on a permanent basis.

Andy Cole was a former teammate of Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

They were part of a four-man deadly strike force alongside Teddy Sheringham and Dwight Yorke.

Andy Cole is sure that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be given the job after he turned the fortunes of the club around.

He has been able to get the best out of the club’s star player Paul Pogba as well as Marcus Rashford according to former Blackburn Rovers attacker Andy Cole.

Manchester United appointed Solskjaer as the interim manager in December following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho who masterminded a wretched start to the season.

The Red Devils were struggling a great deal while the Portuguese tactician was in charge of the team.

Under Solskjaer, Manchester United have won 11 games, drawn one and lost one from the 13 games played.

They are the form team in the league with eight games and one draw from the last nine matches.

Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is only focused on football despite the intense transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club when the transfer window reopens this summer.

These are the words of his agent Martin Schoots who spoke about the Danish international star in an interview with popular media channel ESPN.

According to him, his client is only focused on North London giants Tottenham Hotspur and their quest for glory in major honours like the Premier League and the Champions League.

He also confirmed that talks over a possible contract renewal at Spurs are off the table until the summer at least.

Christian Eriksen has 18 months left on his current contract with Tottenham Hotspur and that has led to transfer rumours linking him major European clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and even Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has grown to become a key player for Tottenham Hotspur since joining the club in 2013 in an £11m deal from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.

English Premier League outfit Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has made it clear that he will not accept the insinuation that his side are in a better position to secure a win against Man United in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Red Devils have been consistent in their performance so far this season and they hope to have a run against the Red Devils so as to move to the top on the table but it is worthy to note that the Red Devils are also in fine form and they have been beaten once in their last 13 games.

Georginio Wijnaldum stated that his side have got a big job to do because Man United are not a write-away as the clash promises to be a difficult one.

Liverpool had defeated the Red Devils 3-1 in the first leg under former manager Jose Mourinho and Georginio Wijnaldum thinks the second leg would be a different encounter for his side.

He noted that interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made an impact in the United team which has reflected in the way they play as well as their results, adding that his side will find it more difficult because they will be hosted at the Old Trafford.

Marouane Fellaini

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has revealed why he left the club during the recently concluded winter transfer window.

Fellaini, 30, spoke about his Manchester United exit in an interview with Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

The Belgian international player disclosed that Jose Mourinho played a big part in his decision to swap Manchester United for China.

Marouane Fellaini further revealed that he would still be at Manchester United in Portuguese tactician Mourinho had stayed at the club.

Mourinho was sacked by the Old Trafford bosses in December 2017 after he masterminded a disappointing start to the season which saw the Red Devils drop out of the Premier League top four for the whole of the season until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge.

Fellaini also revealed in the interview that his exit was fuelled by the desire for a new challenge as he turned away accusations that he left Manchester United for money.

Marouane Fellaini sealed a transfer to Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng last month in a deal worth £10m.

He had earlier signed a two-year contract extension with Manchester United last summer when his then contract was up but the exit of Jose Mourinho changed everything for him.

He made just one substitute appearance under Mourinho’s successor and ex-Red Devils striker Solskjaer before leaving Old Trafford.

Philippe Coutinho

It not alone for West London outfit Chelsea to have manager Jurgen Klopp sacked as a result of the bad results coming from the team but there is a need to make certain decisions that will help drive the club forward.

The future of the Italian manager is in doubt after suffering another defeat against Man United in the FA Cup third round.

Reports claim that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is soon to make a decision and it might not go well for the former Napoli boss because they can no longer trust him to deliver good results anymore.

However, the Blues are tipped to make more decisions by moving in on Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho who is claimed to be unsettled at the Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona.

As a result of his unsatisfactory performance, it is unclear if the former Liverpool star still has a future with Barcelona amidst interest that the West London outfit are interested in him.

Pundits have argued that the Brazilian international will be a perfect addition for the Blues team and most he importantly, he would be replacing Eden Hazard who is set to leave the club in the coming summer window with claims that he would be heading to Real Madrid.

How Liverpool, Bayern game would have ended in a drama

The Champions League tie between Liverpool and Bayern Munich would have ended in a drama after the sound of the final whistle by the referee.

The game had ended in a disappointing note for the English Premier League side as they threw away the opportunity to go into the second leg with a goal advantage.

Senegal international Sadio Made had got two clear opportunities to brighten their chances of qualification to the next round but he failed in that responsibility and obviously, manager Jurgen Klopp was unhappy about that.

Moving in that mood, the German boss was to perform the tradition of a handshake with the opponent but the Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac hesitated before pulling out his hand and it almost blew off the Reds boss.

In his post-match interview, Jurgen Klopp expressed his disappointment at the Bundesliga manager as he stated that he had told him to give him a second because he stood there to give him a handshake “like a dope”.

However, the last second leg is expected to be played in Germany and that will determine who moves to the next stage with the Merseyside club having the confidence that they can upset Bayern Munich at home.
