Inter Milan centre-back Skriniar has reportedly rejected new deal offered him last week.

According Gazzetta Dello Sport, the 23-year-old defender, was offered a contract extension by the Serie A side but he rejected it, amid interest from Manchester United.

The media outlet claimed that the player wants an increase in his weekly earnings but Milan are not ready to meet his demand.

It is believed that the player, who currently receives €1.75m, wants his new deal to include €3m as wages but the Serie A side are only ready to pay him €2.5m

Though both parties are still negotiating, there are great chances that the player will leave the San Siro Stadium in January as his current contract is set to due by the end of this campaign.

During the summer window, the Slovakian defender was approached by José Mourinho but he failed to accept the Portuguese offer.

However, this report will come as good one for José Mourinho who is desperately in search of a quality centre-back due to his team’s fragility at the back of the pitch.

In his quest for a top defender during the summer window, Mourinho was heavily linked with Leicester City defender Harry Maguire but the Foxes prevented any deal from materializing.

United started the season in an unwanted way as they have conceded eight goals in just four matches, however, Skriniar’s contract saga might just be what Mourinho need to lure the Slovakian to Old Trafford.
