Leicester City star man Harry Maguire has revealed that Manchester United showed interest in him by making an offer to the King Power outfits for his signature during the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old, who shone like a million star in Russia with the Three Lions, told the Mirror state he received an offer from Mourinho but he rejected the deal because he’s happy at the King Power Stadium.
In a chat with the British media, Maguire revealed that he wasn’t surprised seeing Mourinho’s bid on his table because he believes his performances at the World Cup was good enough to attract top clubs.
“Obviously going into a World Cup there was always going to be, if he were successful as we were, there were always going to be players who came under interest that is part and parcel of the game,” he said
However, the player couldn’t move to the theatre of Dreams during the window because he wasn’t permitted by Leicester City.
“I spoke with Leicester after a bit of interest from clubs, and they reiterated that I wasn’t for sale and I respected that decision.” He revealed to newsmen
The former Hull City star joined the Foxes last summer in a small-money deal but he’s seen his market Value rise up tremendously within a space of 12 months.
The Express reported last month that the England International was valued at £65m by Claude Puel but Mourinho’s side are only willing to pay £60m.
Harry Maguire has scored a goal for the Foxes this season and he would be hoping to get more before the season comes to an end.
The player is presently with the Three Lions, who are preparing for the UEFA Nation League opener against Spain on Saturday.
Man Utd Fans Want Premier League Title For Rivals Man City
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has revealed that fans of city rivals Manchester United want the Citizens to win the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool.
Kyle Walker talked about the league title in his recent interview via Goal just ahead of the all-important Manchester Derby clash between hosts Manchester United and Manchester City.
The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back told reporters that the Manchester United fans he has encountered while outside walking his dog want the Premier League title for his Manchester City team ahead of Liverpool.
Manchester United and Liverpool share an age-long rivalry and it’s not surprising that the Red Devils fans would want the Citizens to win the league title ahead of their arch-rivals.
The Citizens are the defending champions in the Premier League and they can win a second successive title in the competition by winning their remaining four games starting with the Manchester Derby at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday night.
Manchester City can become only the third team to retain the Premier League title after Manchester United and Chelsea if they are able to hold off Liverpool.
The Reds have a two-point cushion over Manchester City on the league standings but the holders can usurp Liverpool with a win in the Manchester Derby.
Man Utd Target On Song As Spurs’ Strengthen Grip On Third Place
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen was the matchwinner as the North Londoners moved a step closer to Champions League qualification via a 1-0 home win over relegation battlers Brighton and Hove Albion.
Champions League semifinalists Spurs knew that only a win would be enough to boost their hopes of making it back to Europe’s premier club competition next season but they had to work for it against a determined Brighton side.
The Seagulls are fighting for survival in just their second season back in the top flight after a long absence.
Tottenham controlled possession for the majority of the first half but they struggled to fashion out chances against a resolute Brighton rearguard as both teams settled for a goalless draw at the halftime interval.
The hosts continued to pile up the pressure which eventually paid off in the second half.
Brighton frustrated the home side for large parts of the second half before the aforementioned Eriksen broke the deadlock with a long range shot three minutes from time for his seventh goal of the season.
Christian Eriksen sent a reminder to Tottenham fans on what they might be missing if he leaves the club this summer with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United interested in him.
He has just a year left on his current deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
The win over Brighton took Spurs four points clear of Chelsea in fourth place.
Why Sarri was called shit by Burnley backroom team
It has been revealed that West London outfit Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was called “shit” by a member of the Burnley backroom team when the two sides clashed in the English Premier League tie on Monday night.
Both teams played a 2-2 draw and it was no doubt a disappointment to the Blues boss who had expected to further establish himself into the race for a top-four finish.
However, Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has hinted that the club could go ahead to report the incident to the FA for necessary actions to be taken on the matter.
It would be recalled that the Blues boss was sent off after leaving his technical zone as he attempted to talk to his players at the touchline.
Zola hinted that the Italian boss has been offended and he was unhappy as he defended his boss for not turning up for the match conference after the game.
The game had ended in a thick atmosphere with players of both teams and officials looking very angry as they left the pitch.
A win for the Blues would have helped them push for a top-four finish especially after Man United, Arsenal and Tottenham lost their games.
Europa League: Why Frankfurt have got an advantage over Chelsea
There are suggestions that German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have been handed a major advantage ahead of their Europa League semi-final game against West London outfit Chelsea by next month.
This is after it is claimed that the Bundesliga have shifted a game from the penultimate round of fixtures to help Eintracht Frankfurt have a better rest and prepare well against the Blues team.
The German Bundesliga outfit are currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga table and have got three games left to end the season which means they are likely to return to the Champions League if they retain the spot but there is a bid to have them reach the finals to stand the chance of playing in the finals.
However, it is expected to serve as a major boost to the Bundesliga side and to keep them in a better position to play in the finals of the competition later in May.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has advocated for this kind of treatment from the English Premier League but that has not happened yet, knowing that the opportunity was handed to Ajax and it helped them with their Champions League wins against Real Madrid and Juventus respectively.
Old Trafford Has Lost Its Fear Factor
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes that Old Trafford has lost its fear factor and that the Theatre of Dreams is no longer daunting like before.
Guardiola talked about the Manchester United Stadium during his pre-match press thoughts on Tuesday ahead of the big Manchester Derby clash between Manchester City and Manchester United.
The Red Devils host title chasers Manchester City at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday night in a mammoth game that could decide the destination of the Premier League title.
Ahead of the latest derby, Manchester City have won five of their last seven visits to Old Trafford.
In addition, Manchester City have won nine league games in a row and a win for the Citizens in their Manchester Derby clash with Manchester United will make it ten successive victories in the Premier League.
Manchester City need to secure a sixth win from eight games at Old Trafford to usurp title challengers Liverpool at the top of the table.
Victory will take the Citizens one point clear of Liverpool with three games left to play before the end of the season.
Liverpool had gone to the Premier League summit at the weekend following their away win at Cardiff City.
The Reds won 2-0 with goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner (penalty).
Betting Preview: Wolves vs Arsenal: Draw Likely Outcome
North London giants Arsenal have a fantastic chance to make a big statement as regards finishing in the top-four of the Premier League table this season when they travel to the Midlands to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners would be hoping to bounce back from their surprising defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace who ended their 17-game unbeaten run at home.
It was the North Londoners’ first home loss in the Premier League since the opening day defeat to champions Manchester City.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery was beaten 2-0 by the Citizens on the opening day of the season in what was the Spanish tactician’s first game in charge of the Gunners.
The Crystal Palace defeat has not really hurt Arsenal in the scheme of things for top four on the Premier League table due to the poor results recorded by rivals like Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Gunners won’t find it easy at Wolves who have been a thorn in the flesh of the top teams this season including Arsenal.
However, Wolves have recorded just five points from the last five league games.
Both sides played 1-1 in the first meeting between the two sides at the Emirates Stadium earlier this season and a draw is likely to be the outcome at the odds of 3.40 according to SportPesa.
A win for Wolves is at the odds of 2.90 while Arsenal are slight favourites at the odds of 2.50 as confirmed by SportPesa.
Arsenal Boss Reiterates Support For Underfire Mustafi
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reiterated his support for underfire defender Shkrodan Mustafi who has been heavily criticised by fans after the shock home loss to fellow London club Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Spanish tactician Emery leapt to the defence of Mustafi again during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the all-important Premier League clash at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.
Arsenal travel to Wolves hoping to take all the points at stake to boost their top-four hopes.
Unai Emery described Mustafi as a very good player while he was speaking with reporters as he cited that the German World Cup winner was the best player in the last league game before the Palace setback at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.
Mustafi and Arsenal kept their first away clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win at Watford last week Monday just before the Palace game at the weekend.
Former Valencia defender Mustafi was at fault for some of the goals scored by Crystal Palace as Arsenal lost 3-2 to the Eagles who compounded the Gunners’ tricky quest for a top-four finish.
Mustafi faced the wrath of Arsenal fans after the game with some going as far as threatening his family for the player’s mistakes.
Man Utd Won’t Challenge Liverpool, Man City For Title Next Season
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the Red Devils will struggle to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
According to him, Premier League title chasers Liverpool and Manchester City are miles ahead of Manchester United and it will take time to catch up with them.
Solskjaer was speaking about Liverpool and Manchester City during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Manchester Derby clash in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The Norwegian tactician further revealed that Manchester United need the right quality, right personality and the right standards to level up with the best teams.
Manchester United will find out the extent of the gap between them and city rivals Manchester City when they face off at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Red Devils have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions including the weekend’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Everton.
Solskjaer and his players suffered their worst performance of the season against the Toffees at the weekend.
Richarlison, Lucas Digne, Gylfi Sigurdsson and substitute Theo Walcott were amongst the goals for the home side against Manchester United.
Manchester United fans would be hoping for a reaction from their players against a Manchester City team looking for a win to secure top spot.
Chelsea urged to sign this prolific No.9
West London outfit have got a major challenge this season as they battle with the lack of cutting edge in their attack and that has contributed to their set back this season.
Manager Maurizio Sarri had Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata to boast of in the attack from the start of the season but there was obviously no gain and that was why he brought in Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain to help the team in the last January winter transfer window and the story is still unchanged.
More so, the France international striker has threatened to leave the club owing to his lack of playing time but the Italian manager has insisted that he has been given enough time and will be asked to remain at the club ahead of the coming season.
However, the West London outfit have been asked to consider the signature of German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic as soon as the summer transfer window is reopened.
So far this season Luka Jovic has scored 8 goals in the Europa League and the Blues team will have a taste of him when they meet in the semi-final of the tournament next month.
Luka Jovic has shown that he is a goal scorer and a strong player who has all it takes to play in English Premier League.
Chelsea to get 9-point deduction?
Man City star player Raheem Sterling has advocated for the West London outfit Chelsea to hand a 9-point deduction after they were found guilty of racial abuse which was carried out by their fans.
Raheem Sterling was a victim of the racial abuse this season and he seems yet to be over it after his latest reaction to the incident.
The star player went ahead to write a thought-provoking article on the scourge of racism in football in a bid to discourage the barbaric act from fans.
The star player suffered the abuse when he played for the England national team against Montenegro as he was subjected to annoying monkey noises.
However, Raheem Sterling has questioned the English press on how they have handled the issue of racism in their reporting as he feels that they have not done enough to ensure the act comes to an end in the round leather game.
He therefore advocates that clubs found wanting should have their points deducted as it would go a long way in helping to curb it especially if they fall outside the top-four or slip to the relegation zone as a result of the punishment from the FA.
