Manchester United great Paul Scholes surprisingly returned to action for the first time in many years to feature for a local non-league side Royton Town on Saturday.
Though the player was in action from the start of the game, he couldn’t prevent his side from being beaten 1-0 by Stockport Georgians.
The former United midfielder was on ‘from start ‘to finish for the team who have his son in the starting lineup.
Despite their lost to Stockport, Royton Town’s Chairman praised the former Premier League won winner for his kind gesture by playing for England’s 11th division club.
He said the player’s involvement in the game helped bring more fans to the club.
According to Leeming, Stockport always gets 40-50 fans but Saturday’s game witnessed so many spectators that the stadium was filled with cars.
As for Stockport president, Scholes still possesses his quality during the game.
