Despite being under huge criticism from fans for his team’s unwanted results, Manchester United manager José Mourinho told reporters that he compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo will shine at Juventus.
Ronaldo, 33, is expected to hit the ground running in Serie A following his big-money move to Juventus this summer but hasn’t been happening so far.
The Portuguese star striker had fire-blank in the three matches he’s played so far and that hasn’t gone well with the media.
As result of his impressive goalscoring record during his time at Old Trafford and Santiago Bernabeu, Italian media are expecting to see the striker have an immediate impact on the team but they have been disappointed with what they’ve seen so far from the five-time Balon dO’r winner.
When asked by the media if Ronaldo is still a great player, Mourinho answered ‘yes of course,’ backing the player — whom he tutored during their time at Real Madrid — to return back to his usual goalscoring form before two weeks.
According to Mourinho, it is too early to start criticizing Ronaldo for his goal-drought. He advised Juventus to wait for two weeks to see if Ronaldo won’t get the goals for them.
“Unless he doesn’t score in two weeks then you say he’s not a good player ” the former Real Madrid boss told reporters.
The player was on ‘from start to finish’ in Juventus 2-0 victory over Parma but couldn’t get the much-needed goal.
Mario Mandzukic and Blaise Matuidi were the goalscorers for the Old Lady, who made it three wins in three games.
