This week has been an awesome one for the Gunners and their supporters. It was reported on Monday that the club have reached an agreement with Adidas to become their kit sponsorship as soon as next season.
However, there is another good news to cheer as they are on the verge of announcing the signing of former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure on a free transfer.
According to the player’s agent via his Twitter account this afternoon, Toure has passed his medical with the North London outfits and he is expected to sign a new contract with the team before the end of the day.
The Ivorian is not new to the Gunners faithfuls as he has featured against them during his time at the Etihad Stadium, where he played for more than five years.
During his time with the Citizens, Toure helped them to their first Premier League title – after many years – in 2012 when they defeated their city rivals Manchester United on goal difference.
Since Guardiola took over from Manuel Pellegrini in 2016, the former Ivorian midfielder failed to get any first-team actions for long period of time due to unhealthy relationships between the manager and the player’s representative.
After many talks, digs and jibes, Toure apologized to the Spanish manager, who subsequently used him on few occasions till the end of last season.
Though the player is becoming old, he will definitely add more class and experience to the Gunners midfield setup if given the chance by Unai Emery to feature in many games this season.
