MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Ander Herrera is set for a new contract after failing to make his proposed move to Athletic Bilbao.
It was reported last month that the Spaniard could be heading to the Spanish side as he wasn’t certain of getting regular game-time under Mourinho this season.
However, Herrera has been one of the most consistent players under Mourinho since the start of this season and he is reportedly set to sign a two-year contract.

Though he might be pushed down the pecking order when Nemanja Matic returns from the injury he picked up at the World Cup, the former Southampton man revealed to MUTV that he is happy at Old Trafford and he wants to remain under Mourinho’s tutelage.
The acquisition of Fred froShakhtarar Donetsk has further heightened the level of competition in Mourinho’s team but the 27-year-old believes he is ready to fight for his place in the team.
According to the Sun, United are preparing a new deal for the player as result of his blistering performance for the Red Devils since he joined them from Southampton in 2014.
In Mourinho’s first season at Old Trafford, Herrera was voted United’s player of the season due to his tittle-winning performance as he helped the team to an Europa League and League Cup trophy
