Truth Revealed: Tottenham Defender Not In Mourinho’s Top Nine Targets
It was reported by many rumour mongers, during the summer transfer window, that Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld was Mourinho’s prime target as the Portuguese manager wanted to improve his defensive setup before the start of this season.
However, report emanating from the Old Trafford Stadium today revealed that the Belgian is not in Mourinho’s most wanted defenders.
According to the Times, the Tottenham star was not listed in the manager’s list of targeted players and that was one of the reasons the Red Devils couldn’t complete their reported move for the experienced defender.

The Times suggested that Alderweireld was below Harry Maguire and Varane in Mourinho’s targeted defenders.
The Portuguese manager tried all he could to get the Leicester City’s defender for £60m but the Foxes were unconvinced with the offer they received from their Premier League counterpart.
Though many reports claimed that Alderweireld would eventually join the Old Trafford outfits before the close of the transfer window, a deal never materializes throughout the transaction period.
Alderweireld, who will end his contract with the North London club in twelve months time, is set to start against the Red Devils when both sides meet on Monday.
It was believed that United’s Vice-chairman Ed Woodward was at the Wembley stadium to discuss with Tottenham hierarchy over the possibility of luring the defender to the Theater of Dreams last month, but he was unsuccessful in his mission to convince Mauricio Pochettino, who demanded for Martial’s signature in return.
